![]() The Lady's Dress for the Newsletter Freebie Pattern is completed! All she really needs now are some fancy accessories and a dashing Gentleman by her side. I ended up adding a few more rows to the dress length before I could attach the lace, and I finished it off with an extra lacy blue crochet skirt under the lace to help bring the colour throughout the dress. I also ended up re-doing the petticoat cage so that it could have more form. There will be an option to make the dress without the lace, but I think the lace adds a nice element and texture to the dress. Don't you agree? I was finally able to get to my favourite candy store today and pick up some more yummy goodness!
![]() This nightgown pattern is for Barbie-sized fashion dolls and can be made in several different lengths. It is done mostly in single crochet and is therefore really easy to crochet. I designed this nightgown to go with the "Secret Pattern" coming out in Too Yarn Cute Magazine's September Issue - more on that coming soon... Continue below for this FREE crochet pattern... Katie's Crochet Goodies has joined together 22 crochet pattern designers - including myself, for a fabulous, 25 multi-winner giveaway!
This past week, I started working on slacks for the Gentleman part of Newsletter Freebie pattern (see the WIP of the Lady part of the pattern here), and I ran out of black halfway through the second pant leg (not fun when that happens). So, I started playing around with top ideas for Ken, and came up with these...
Yesterday, I was sitting here thinking about the long list of items I need to get to complete all my WIP's (work-in-progresses), when I got to thinking, how many WIP's do I actually have?
I know I have quite a few, so I decided to make a list of all of them, and found that I have more than a dozen on the go at various stages. Some of these, I have shared updates and sneak peeks, and others, I have been working on in secret. Even though I've got quite a few on the list so far, I can't help but feel I am forgetting some... Thanks to the lovely Kinga of My Hobby is Crochet, I learned about Bundles on Ravelry, and how easy they are to set up (See her post about Ravelry Bundles here). Now, I have all my Patterns sorted into several bundles which makes it so much easier see everything I have in them. Here is what my original designs page on ravelry looks like now... ![]() After a whole year of thinking about what I would like to offer my newsletter subscribers as their special freebie, I have finally settled on an idea which I am sure you will love. Since Barbies are what I do, I knew that at least the main freebie pattern needed to be fashion doll related. So, I have figured something out for the Barbie and Ken dolls, and perhaps in future I may add an amigurumi pattern into the mix. For the Lady, the plan is to make a really stylish dress complete with a petticoat, a parasol, undergarments, a bag, a hat and of course some shoes. For the Gentleman, the plan is to make an equally stylish suit, complete with a top hat, jacket, trousers, top and shoes. I really think it would be fun to make a fun, scenic coral reef piece to go with the Fashion Doll Mermaids I have been crocheting.
The technique to get all sorts of fun coral reef pieces and designs is called Hyperbolic Crochet, and this is what I have crocheted so far... |
