After a whole year of thinking about what I would like to offer my newsletter subscribers as their special freebie, I have finally settled on an idea which I am sure you will love. Since Barbies are what I do, I knew that at least the main freebie pattern needed to be fashion doll related. So, I have figured something out for the Barbie and Ken dolls, and perhaps in future I may add an amigurumi pattern into the mix. For the Lady, the plan is to make a really stylish dress complete with a petticoat, a parasol, undergarments, a bag, a hat and of course some shoes. For the Gentleman, the plan is to make an equally stylish suit, complete with a top hat, jacket, trousers, top and shoes. So far for the Lady, I have partially completed the dress, hat and petticoat. You can see how they look in the pictures above and to the right. There is still about 2" (5 cm) remaining for the full length of the dress. I am hoping to find some lace to see how that would look on this dress. I did it for my little sister's Mint Formal Set, and it looks so cool! If the lace doesn't look as great as I am hoping it will, I will just finish the length of the dress in crochet. All the hat needs is a bow or ribbon. I am still deciding whether I will do it in white or stick to the blue. Technically, I finished the petticoat last night, but the picture shows it with 3 of the 4 sections completed. It has 3 different sized circumference wire circles evenly placed which helps it to hold its shape and give the dress a nice form (pictured with only 2 circle wires). As I have yet to find a new suitable model, I very carefully propped my decapitated doll to show you this dress. Her head is merely resting on the neck, and falls off with just the slightest movement. She is still my most faithful doll. There is nothing to preview for the Gentleman just yet, but I will keep you all updated as I work on these. Is this freebie pattern idea to your liking? Sound off below... If you have any other ideas or details you think would be great for this pattern, I'd love to hear about them below...
