The Never-Ending List of WIP's

Yesterday, I was sitting here thinking about the long list of items I need to get to complete all my WIP's (work-in-progresses), when I got to thinking, how many WIP's do I actually have?

I know I have quite a few, so I decided to make a list of all of them, and found that I have more than a dozen on the go at various stages.  Some of these, I have shared updates and sneak peeks, and others, I have been working on in secret.  Even though I've got quite a few on the list so far, I can't help but feel I am forgetting some...

How do I end up with so many WIP's?

What happens is I will usually work on one project until I complete it, but every so often, I will start a new project in the middle of that project.  There are only a few reasons why I will do this, but they tend to happen often.

• The first reason is... I ran out of materials.  This one happens frequently because I will usually start a project with the threads I have on hand, and they are usually not brand new balls of yarn.  
  


• The next reason is... I lost inspiration, or I am having difficulties figuring out how to best accomplish something I want to do.  This often happens when I am trying too hard, or I am learning something new about crochet.
  


• Another reason is... A new project became more important to complete first.  If I get a custom order, those will trump anything else I am working on since they have a deadline.  Then, any other project that I have a set deadline for, will always be top priority.  This usually means that I end up with lots of personal WIP's on the back burner.
  


• The last reason is... I am bored and need a change of scenery.  This one is the least likely to happen since most of my projects are quick and easy ones.  However, I have found that some bigger projects that take more time are easier to complete if I pause working on them for a bit.
  

Sometimes I will complete the new project before going back to working on the original, but often I will start another new project.  Hereby creating the cycle of endless WIP's.
