Working on Fashion Dude Tees

I'm on a mission...

A mission to design more fashion dude doll clothes for the Mattel Doll Ken.

For the past few weeks, I've been working on and off on creating some fashionable and stylish tees for the dudes in Barbie's life. Some point later, I will expand into pants too.

Back to the tees...

After working on my Gentleman and finally sending Surfer Dude to my testers, I got to thinking that it would be nice to create more clothes from him, sort of like what I did with Happily Ever After.

Of course, things will be a little different for Ken, since he prefers tees and pants.

I started brainstorming different types of tops I could design for him.

I already had basic dressy shirts covered from working on the Gentleman, and then of course there are standard t-shirts too.

I went searching on Google Images for more inspiration.

That's when I came across this running top (also pictured to the right), and loved the idea!

Using the above puma top as my inspirational running top, I set out to design a basic doll version too.

Now, it's not quite finished yet. I want to add an orange collar, and I still need to sew on snaps, close up the back of the top and weave in all the ends I am hiding in the picture.

I am pretty pleased with how it is coming along here. What do you think?

Once, I completed the basic running top, I got to thinking how cool it would be to make some of the tees with logos and symbols too. So, I designed a few by using graph paper.

I got all numbers from 0-9 designed and have crocheted one of these with the number 8.

Then, I crocheted one with the check symbol.

Here you can see how the three running tops, I have crocheted, look like before I add the sleeves...

As you can see, I've got long, elbow length and short sleeves for these all ready. I will have to play with a tank top variation to see if it will look good too. :D

Now that I have some ideas for the above sporty running tops, I decided to work on some t-shirt variations. I have these two partially completed so far...

The navy tee will be paired long sleeves and the army green tee with the yin-yang symbol will be paired with short sleeves for a regular t-shirt.

I have to say, I was quite pleased when the yin-yang came out so well. I was worried it wouldn't come out as round as it did when I designed it on the graph. I love it!

I am planning a tank variation and an elbow-length sleeve one too. I was thinking of doing one of the tanks with a smiley face logo. :D

What other ideas for fun symbols or logos for these tees do you think would be great to do too?

A friend has suggested the Olympic's logo and I've also designed some Nordic Rune variations.
