It's been a while since I gave you all an update on the Under the Sea series I have slowly been working on and off these last 2 years. Without further ado, here's a new look at what's done... So far, I have completed mermaid tails for the ken, barbie and kelly fashion (barbie) dolls, merman king accessories, several tops and hair accessories for the two mermaids, sea shells, shell thrones and a flounder fish.
What you won't see in the barbie mermaid posts, is the new tops and accessories I have designed for her, nor the simple mermaid tail I have been working on too. For her second tail, I still need to add the fins, but I want to take pictures as I do it. Crab and Seagull friends are on the hooks still. The crab is missing his pincers, his tummy and of course to be put together. The seagull has feet, legs and a tail. He still needs the rest of his body, head and wings. Both are still a work in progress at this point. It is just a matter of finding another tone of red to finish the crab, and a matter of getting the next inspirational breeze for the seagull. Another fun sea thing I was working on last year, is a coral scenic reef using hyperbolic crochet. Not sure at this point, if I will be including them in the series, or if I will even get to finish working on them, but it's a fun technique and I really hope I will be able to do it.
What I would still like to do, is complete the mermaid family to include the other fashion doll sizes. I want them each to have accessories and 3 mermaid tails - one with beads, one without and a simple easy tail like the kelly doll has. Also, I want to make some sea witches and possibly more sea friends. We shall see. If you have any thoughts about what should be included or added to the series, I want to hear about it. * * * * * I can't believe it's already been two years since I started working on the barbie mermaid. I am sure you all know how it goes... you start a project - maybe you finish it before you start a new one, maybe not, and before you know it, you have this giant list of WIP projects you've been meaning and wanting to finish, but haven't yet. This is exactly what happened to me with these fashion doll mermaids and sea friends. Even so, I have done quite a bit for this set thus far, and if you take into account every other thing I worked in between what you see now - well, I'll just leave it at that. For one reason or another, I keep having to put this project on hold. I am hoping not to have too many more hold ups. I am determined to make these a top priority for the rest of the year. Though, a part of me wonders if I should send patterns to my testers and publish each individually as I go, so you all get can started on these sooner, rather than later. Or if I should sent these to my testers as I go and publish them all together once I finish them all. What I really want to do, is publish them all together (they will all be available individually too), but if you would rather I publish as I go instead, I will do that for you. Tell me what you think I should do in the following poll... If you have any other thoughts you'd like to add, comment below... I'd love to hear them!
Thank you for visiting and if you've been waiting for ever for these patterns, thank you for your patience with me. :D Hello Visitor and Welcome to Rebeckah's Treasures...
