Christmas is always a fun theme to design for and I had several ideas. I was also aching to crochet with the DK cotton yarn my Bestemor (Norwegian for Grandma) sent me in March.
At first I was going to see if I could design a tapestry crochet bauble, but then I thought how much fun it would be to add some texture to the ornament, so I decided to use a variation of the bobble stitch.
I wanted to create a fancy design in the bauble, but I thought it would be easier if I first did a simple one, where I only switched colours once per round. The end result created a beautiful striped bauble that has the illusion of spirals when one looks at it from the bottom.
When crocheted with DK yarn and paired with a 3.75mm hook, this warm sunshine is about 4.25” (10.8cm) tall, but it can be made bigger or smaller, simply by adjusting the yarn and hook size.
Plus, stay tuned for a Diamond variation of this Bobble Bauble coming out later next week...
