Simply BLUEtiful Baby Fashion Doll Dress

Simply BLUEtiful - a beginner’s crochet dress series for fashion dolls... The fourth dress in this series is designed to fit the 1 3/4” newborn baby fashion doll by Mattel.

Worked from the top-down in mainly single crochet stitches, this simple pattern can easily be customized to be whatever you want it to be. Whether you make a simple tee, a beautiful dress or add your own flair to the skirt of the dress, you’ll soon have a new simply bluetiful dress to add to your collection!

You'll Need:

• a small amount (25-50m approx.) of cotton thread #10 - USE ANY COLOUR YOU LIKE
  
• 1.7mm hook - depending on your tension, a 1.65mm or a 1.75mm will work too
  
• tapestry/yarn needle

Gauge: Working in sc - 9 sts x 12 rows = 1" (2.5cm)

Abbreviations:

ch(s) - chain(s)
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
lp(s) - loop(s)
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sk - skip
sp(s) - space(s)
st(s) - stitch(es)
f/o - fasten off

Sizing: Designed to fit the 2002 model of the 1 3/4" newborn baby fashion doll by Mattel.

Pattern Notes:

• Odd rounds = RS
• When there is no stitch count present at the end of a round, this means it has the same number of stitches as the previous row.
• This pattern is worked in one piece from top-down using mostly sc. Working from top-down allows you to make your own special changes and customizations for the bottom of the dress. Make this dress any length you like or make a simple tee instead by stopping after any row you like... Feel free to get creative! 
• I have rated this as a beginner crochet pattern because the stitches are simple. However, due to the small nature of this tiny doll dress, you may find it a challenge to crochet, and it may require a little more patience and concentration to complete.

Baby Dress Instructions:

ch 16, sl st join to first ch, ch 1, turn

   rnd 1: work in bottom lps (a.k.a back ridge or hump) of chs - sc 2, ch 2, sk 4 chs, sc 4, ch 2, sk 4 chs, sc 2, sl st join, ch 1, turn (12 sts)
   rnd 2: sc 2, sc 2 in each of the next 2 chs, sc 4, sc 2 in each of the next 2 chs, sc 2, sl st join, ch 1, turn (16 sts)
   rnd 3-4: sc 16, sl st join, ch 1, turn
   rnd 5: sc 3, sc 2 in next 2 sts, sc 6, sc 2 in next 2 sts, sc 3, sl st join, ch 1, turn (20 sts)
   rnd 6-7: sc 20, sl st join, ch 1, turn
   rnd 8: (sc, ch 3, sc) rep around for a total of 10 times, sl st join, ch 1, f/o (10 ch sps)

Weave in all ends.

There you have it! A simply BLUEtiful dress for your favourite newborn baby fashion doll.
