You may have noticed I have been absent from blogging and designing the last four years. There have been many changes in my life including two international moves, visiting and connecting with family, university studies, career changes and pursuing my life-long dreams... All these changes began in the summer of 2017, when I moved from Panama back to Canada to be near my mum. This was a fresh start for me to re-connect in person with my mother's side of the family and start a new career. By the end of the summer, I had my final birth required to complete my Doula certification. Yay! Plus, I had crocheted many fun things too. I will do a full Summer 2017 update for you all later. In October 2017, I joined my 10-years-junior sister at college to become Early Childhood Educators. This was a year-long degree, which we graduated from in August 2018. A couple months into this degree, I joined an amazing childcare team part-time, where I worked both in their nursery for under 3's and preschool for 3-5's. They later offered me a full-time position with the 0-3's, where I worked until August 2020. Working in childcare was a fun way to express myself creatively (I'll share more on this later too), while also saving to pursue my life-long dream to become a midwife. In May 2020, I received a firm offer to study Midwifery in the UK. I was beyond ecstatic! I spent the next few months preparing everything for my big move to the UK during Covid-19. Wardrobe was downsized, car was sold, and everything non-essential was packed away to be stored with family. In August 2020, I left Canada with 3 suitcases and a backpack. I landed in Norway to visit with my father and his side of the family for a month before my studies began. I will share more on my summer 2020 in Norway later too. I am so happy I had that time with my Norwegian family before going to the UK. One because it had been years since I had seen them, and two because furth Covid-19 travel restrictions deterred my plans to visit at Christmas. I arrived in London in September 2020, and started my first year of three, which I completed at the end of July 2021. Two more years to go! During this time, I have crocheted numerous boobs for teaching breadfeeding (or chestfeeding as some prefer), and even a new doll with an open mouth. I'll share more about these too! Although the next two years, I will undoubtably be consumed with my midwifery education, I am determined to release patterns I started to test in 2017 (including a Christmas Bauble), and I am hoping to work on some new designs to share.
That's me for now! How have you been? Any fun projects the last few years? Hello Visitor and Welcome to Rebeckah's Treasures... I am a Norwegian/Canadian currently studying Midwifery in the UK. I love to crochet! At Rebeckah's Treasures, I share my crochet patterns and treasures. I hope they inspire you to crochet your own little treasures too...
