Join us for a 3 week - 6 part crochet-a-long as we crochet this outstanding Otis Giraffe...
The dates are set, so mark them in your calendar because come April 3rd, 2017, 2 weeks from today, this adorable amigurumi CAL will begin, and what fun he will be!
The written pattern, complete with photo tutorials, will be available on this blog in several languages thanks to the translation team over at the CAL - Crochet A Long Facebook Group. They will also be co-hosting the CAL with me in their group, so make sure your join the group event to get in on several ami CALs for this year. The PDF of the full written pattern will also be made available on Ravelry at the close of the CAL. The FULL crochet pattern will also be available as a video tutorial on my YouTube channel, which I will share right here on my blog, so you can view at your favourite location.
My Otis Giraffe journey began back in July 2016, when I started working on him (you can read all about it here). Shortly thereafter, I sent him to my testers and a tester team with the CAL group.
I had originally hoped to start him with you all in 2016, but testing and editing of the pattern took a little longer (we wanted to be very thorough). Plus, translations we delayed due to the Fall Into Christmas Contest, I was hosting at the end of the year. But finally, translations began in January, and dry summer began for me here in Panama, so I decided I would work on a full video tutorial too, so you can see the join-as-you-go in action!
Working on the video tutorial meant that I would be making another Otis Giraffe, so I decided to triple up on my thread to make him bigger and so you would be able to see the stitches more closely too!
I think Otis 2 is pretty awesome, don't you? You'll be able to work your Otis Giraffes in any yarn weight you like in any colours you like, and the best part is, the video and photo tutorials will show you EXACTLY how to crochet this giraffe so minimal sewing is required. In fact, the only sewing required is the head to the body. How fantastic is that?! Don't have access to safety eyes, no problem... Crochet eyes are included. So, you may use whichever you like for yours.
