After over a year of telling myself that I needed to crochet a small shoulder bag that I can use, I finally did it! I started on it last week, and have been working on it in between working on the wedding accessory series and the mermaids. It is not quite finished yet as it still needs a zipper, but the crochet part is finished. It is roughly 6" wide by 8.5" tall (15 x 22 cm approx.), and it is straighter than the photo was able to capture. It has two separate sections inside the bag. The smaller section, which is about half the length of the bag, will be used for my keys, change and any other miscellaneous small items. The larger section, which is the full length of the bag, will be used for my cell phone, camera and any other item that I might need. I had originally thought of making the center divider the full length of the bag. If I had done that, then any small item could easily slip out of the bag since there are larger stitches at the bottom of the bag. Also, everything would end up at the bottom of the bag, which would mean I more digging around for everything. However, since I made the divider smaller, I was able to better maximize the space in the bag used. In the picture to the right, you'll see all the completed pieces I used for this bag. The bottom two are the front and bag pieces of the bag. The top left is the strap, and the top right is the center divider piece. I put it all together by first lining up the center piece with the inside of one of the longer pieces. After that, I sewed the bottom part of the divider to that piece. Next, with the right sides of the bag together, I single crocheted around the perimeter of all the pieces of the bag. Once that was completed, I was able to sew the straps onto either side and tuck away the ends. As soon as I get my hands on a zipper or two, I will sew those onto the bag also. This bag pattern is really easy and works up really quickly too. So, if you would like the pattern for this bag, I could easily arrange that for you. Just give me a shout out below...
