Just last month, I featured Marie Segares from Underground Crafter as my third Friday Feature. Today, I am contributing this adorable Mini Amigurumi Turtle Friend pattern to her blog.
So if you're looking for cute, miniature friends to crochet that will make you smile, head over to Underground Crafter for the free crochet pattern, or learn more about it here first!
This minutes-to-make pattern includes written instructions and an 18-photo tutorial for crocheting this miniature turtle in any yarn weight you like, whether it be fine thread or thick yarn.
This amigurumi turtle is worked in such a way that the legs and head are join to the body as you crochet it. This has the bonus effect of eliminating the need for sewing it together at the end. Which, of course, is something I absolutely love! Why spend time with tedious sewing, when you can join as you go?! At least, that's my two cents on the subject. Who's with me? My mini friend project was inspired from designing the Pencil Topper Turtle Friend (a free crochet pattern). I just loved how the pencil topper turtle looked so much and realized that with a small change, I could make an adorable toy too! This also inspired me to design the Finger Puppet Turtle Friend (free crochet pattern - coming soon). You can see all 3 turtle friends together here... Gifting ideas include stocking stuffers for Christmas, trick-or-treats for Halloween, Birthday party favours and other last-minute, bulk-gifting events!
I crocheted my three mini turtle friends in two yarn weights...
The two smallest ones were crocheted with Circulo Clea cotton thread size 10 and a 1.05mm hook. They ended up measuring approximately 1.75” (4.5 cm) long and 2” (5 cm) wide. The larger mini turtle was crocheted with a no-brand, acrylic sport yarn I had on hand and a 3.75mm hook. It ended up measuring approximately 3.5” (9 cm) long and 4” (10 cm) wide. As you can see, both sizes are small enough to fit together in the palm of my hand. This means even if you decided to try this turtle friend in a DK or WW yarn, he would still be tiny! Come Mid-November 2016, this crochet pattern will also be available as a printer friendly, 8-page eBook / PDF download, which includes all three variations of the mini turtle friends - the Amigurumi Toy, Pencil Topper & Finger Puppet. Stay Tuned! Or learn more about the Mini Turtle Friends...
