First Attempt at Crocheting Jewelry with Wire

Yesterday, I thought it would be really fun to give crocheting jewelry with wire a go.  It is something I have been aching to try this for quite some time.

Here are the results...

To the right, are Pretty Daisy Drop Earrings (links to a free pattern) that are missing the earring fixtures (I need to go out and get some). These are the 2nd and 3rd daisies I crocheted following the pattern linked above.  The first one was a little looser and slightly bigger, so I turned it into a pendant for the necklace below...

Once I had the three wire daisy pendants finished, I crocheted a basic chain with the wire.  Next, I attached the biggest pendant to the center of the necklace.  Afterwards, I crocheted with purple thread over the wire chains.  

I still need to get some findings to fasten the necklace properly, but I am really pleased with the results!

One little note... my thumbs and two first fingers on either hand went a little numb after I finished working with the wire.  I am guessing it will get easier with time, but crocheting with wire is definitely not for beginners.

I can't wait to make some more crochet jewelry.  Maybe next time I will try adding beads into the mix too.
