Gauge:
16 single crochet stitches x 20 rows = 2” (5 cm).
Sizing:
Designed to fit the 2002 model of the 11½” Barbie fashion doll by Mattel.
Pattern Notes:
You should be familiar with basic crochet stitches (chs, sl sts, sc), working in rows, rounds, back/front loops and how to do increases and decreases.
Decreases or tog sts are best worked by using the invisible decrease technique, where you only work in the front or back loops of a stitch. If you are unfamiliar with this technique, see my video tutorial here... Panty Instructions:
Make 1
The panties are worked in rows from the top-back to the top-front, where the EVEN rows = RS. Then, you switch to rnds to join the back and front tog. This part is worked in non-continuous rnds, where the Side facing you = RS. ch 18... row 1: work this row in the bottom loop (a.k.a. back hump) of the chs – sc in 2nd ch from hook & in each across, ch 1, turn (17 sts). row 2: sc2tog in FL, sc 13, sc2tog in FL, ch 1, turn (15 sts). row 3: sc3tog in BL, sc 9, sc3tog in BL, ch 1, turn (11 sts). row 4-5: sc 11, ch 1, turn – 2 rows (11 sts). row 6: sc2tog in FL, sc 7, sc2tog in FL, ch 1, turn (9 sts). row 7-9: sc 9, ch 1, turn – 3 rows (9 sts). row 10: sc2tog in FL, sc 5, sc2tog in FL, ch 1, turn (7 sts). row 11-18: sc 7, ch 1, turn – 8 rows (7 sts). row 19: sc 2 in the first st, sc 5, sc 2 in the last st, ch 1, turn (9 sts). row 20: sc 9, ch 1, turn (9 sts). row 21: sc 2 in the first st, sc 7, sc 2 in the last st, ch 1, turn (11 sts). Switch to rnds to finish panties... Follow either option! Option #1 – Regular, No Stretch:
rnd 22: sc 11, ch 3, sc 17 across the bottom of the first row, ch 3, sl st join to the first st made in this rnd, ch 1, do not turn (34 sts). *Each ch 3 counts as 3 sts in this rnd.
rnd 23: sc 34, sl st join, ch 1, f/o (34 sts). *The first st is worked into the same sp as the sl st join from rnd 22. Option #2 – Elastic Stretch:
rnd 22: with the elastic hairband in hand & holding it behind the sts → sc 2 into each st across AND around the elastic (11 times), sc 6 around the elastic only, sc 2 into each st across the bottom of the first row AND around the elastic (17 times), sc 6 around the elastic only, sl st join to the first st made in this rnd, ch 1, f/o (68 sts).
Weave in all ends.
