Fashion Doll Cross-Body Treasure Bags | Free Crochet Patterns

Are your mermaid fashion dolls looking for an adventure? Why not crochet them these cross-body treasure bags! They're super easy and quick to work up. Plus, they are the perfect size for collecting mini treasures, such as sea shells and thingamabobs.

Designed as a fun bonus accessory for the fashion doll mermaids, these bags are perfectly suited for the Mattel fashion dolls. Two bag sizes are here to accommodate all the doll sizes.

You'll Need:

• crochet cotton thread size 10 (I use Circulo Clea) about 20m (3 grams / 0.8oz) - any colour
• 1.05mm hook
• tapestry yarn needle
  
• stitch marker

Abbreviations: ~US Terminology Used~

[...] - work stitches between the brackets however many times called for
ch - chain
cont - continue
f/o - fasten off
lp(s) - loop(s)
rem - remaining
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(es)
WS - wrong side

Gauge:

The gauge is not important for these bag patterns. However, you should have roughly the following gauge to get the same bag sizes as pictured.

20 single crochet stitches x 24 rows = 2” (5 cm).

Sizing:

• Large ~ 1” (2.5 cm) wide by 1.25” (3 cm) tall. This one is best suited for the woman, teen and tween dolls by Mattel – Barbie, Skipper & Stacey (7 ½" to 11 ½" tall).
  
• Small ~ 0.75” (2 cm) wide by 1” (2.5 cm) tall. This one is best suited for the child and toddler dolls by Mattel – Chelsea, Kelly & Nikki (3" to 5 ½" tall).
  

Note: You can easily make larger bags of each size by adjusting your hook size and yarn weight.

You should be familiar with basic crochet stitches (chs, sl sts, sc,) and working in rounds.

Large Cross-Body Treasure Bag Instructions:

Make 1

This large treasure bag is worked in continuous rnds, where the Side facing you = WS. Do not turn at the end of rnds.

     rnd 1:  sc 6 into a magic circle (6 sts).

     rnd 2:  sc 2 into each st around (12 sts).

     rnd 3:  [sc, sc 2 in the next st] x 6 (18 sts).

     rnd 4:  [sc 2, sc 2 in the next st] x 6 (24 sts).

     rnd 5-14:  sc 24 – 10 rnds (24 sts).

NOTE: Increase or decrease the ch 65 and sc that follow in rnd 15 for a longer or shorter strap.

     rnd 15:  sc, ch 65, sc in the bottom lp of the 2nd ch from the hook & in each across, sc 12, sl st 2 over the end of the strap to secure it into place on this side, sc 11 over the rem sts of the bag, sl st join, ch 1, f/o (24 sts + 1 strap).

Weave in all ends.

Small Cross-Body Treasure Bag Instructions:

Make 1

This small treasure bag is worked in continuous rnds, where the Side facing you = WS. Do not turn at the end of rnds.
