Crochet Elves Kelly & Tommy

Crochet Elves Kelly and Tommy by Set Rebeckah's Treasures
I can't even begin to tell you just how much fun I have had designing and crocheting these little barbie elf outfits for Kelly and Tommy!  I wish that I was a little girl again just so that I can play with them.

Think of the joy these will bring to little girls everywhere!  Imagine them as they squeal with delight, dreaming up wonderful stories for their tiny doll elves to play.

Since I was short on time, I only made two little elves - a male and female version.  Though in my Crochet Elves Kelly & Tommy Pattern, I have written several variations for each outfit.

Kelly Crochet Elf Outfit

I was inspired to crochet an elf outfit for Kelly first.  I started by designing the little dress.  Then, I crocheted her hat.  Afterwards, I worked on the candy striped stockings, and lastly, I made her little slippers.
Elf Kelly's dress is worked in rows from the top-down.  About halfway down the dress, I switch to rounds.  The sleeves are crocheted from the wrist-up and sewn onto the dress.  An edging is crocheted to the collar, wrists and bottom of the dress.  Once all that was done, I sewed a little snap fastener to the back.

The stockings are started at the top, and worked down until it covers the bottom.  Then, the left leg is crocheted from the top-down, afterwards, I do the right leg in a similar fashion.  Finally, the crotch opening is sewn closed.

The hat is worked amigurumi style in continuous rounds from the top-down.  Then, I crochet a brim, and sew a little bell to the tip.

The slippers are crocheted in rounds from the center-bottom, then a bead is sewn to the toe points.

Once Kelly's elf outfit was completed, she was able to try them on, and here she is modeling them for you.  As you can see, she is absolutely tickled pink to have this spectacular new outfit!

Tommy Crochet Elf Outfit

Seeing how Santa has both female and male elf helpers, I thought that it was only fitting that I should also create an elf outfit for Tommy too!  I did his completely different from Kelly's.

Tommy's top can be worked in a similar fashion to Kelly's dress, but since I thought it would be fun to have different colours on either side, I needed to crochet two pieces.  Then, I sewed them together.  The sleeves are the same for the top as the are for the dress.  The only difference here, is that I made stripes instead.

The pants can also be worked as I did the stockings, but for these ones, I crocheted the two different sides, then, I sewed them together.

The hat for Tommy is the same as it is for Kelly, only I created the candy stripes variation for this one.

The slippers are exactly the same for both.

At this time, I don't have a Tommy doll on hand, so little Miss Kelly was ever so pleased to model this outfit on Tommy's behalf!

What both elves have in common.

Both Elves have the same hats.  The only difference is one is a solid colour, whereas, the other is in candy stripes.

The slippers are exactly the same.  I did Kelly's ones in green as they matched her outfit really nicely.  So, Tommy got red ones.

Tools for the Workshop

Since elves are Santa's biggest helpers, I thought that they could definitely use some tools in the workshop.  So, I crocheted them a saw, a hammer, a screw driver, and a little tool box case to store them in.

I did the tool box first.  It is worked in three parts, the bottom, the sides and the handle.  The bottom and handle are crocheted in rows, whereas, the sides are crocheted in continuous rounds.

The first tool to be crocheted was the saw.  The blade part is worked in rows, whilst the handle is crocheted in rounds.  I, then, sew them together.

The hammer has always been my favourite tool, and I just love how it turned out here!  It was crocheted next, and was done it two pieces, both of which are done in rounds before they are sewn together.
Last tool to be crocheted was the screw driver.  It is also worked completely in rounds and has two pieces which are sewn together.

Just for fun Collages

I am ever so pleased with how these little elves turned out!  I probably could have kept making little elf outfits, but I needed to make a Mrs. Barbie Claus Outfit for Barbie, which I will be discussing in my next post on Sunday, December 8th.
