Now that the crochet patterns for these chevron accessories are nearing completion, I feel safe to share another set of projects I finished last year – Chevron Accessories in the Round! This chevron project began with a custom order request for a chevron can cozy from a friend who loved the chevron shoulder bag I was wearing that day. I also happened to have my thread colour swatches in my bag, which I conveniently keep on hand in case of anything. So, I showed her the colours and she picked the pretty plum and hot pink you see in the can cozy above. The very next day, I pulled those colours out of my stash and I started brainstorming how I was going to make this work. Unlike my shoulder bag, which is worked as a flat piece, I needed to work this in the round and figure out how I could smoothly transition from the circle base into the chevron pattern. Luckily, it didn't take too long to figure something out and before I knew it I was finishing the can cozy and already had ideas for how I could mix things up to make a coin purse and a water bottle cozy too! I made the water bottle cozy next and just used two colours I had on hand. I followed the same idea as for the can cozy. Then, I used the same strap pattern from my shoulder bag. Now, if I had time to get other colours, I would have gone with purples and browns, but no matter. I am very happy with my pretty water bottle cozy I can take everywhere with me! I quickly worked up the coin purse next. Again, using colours I had in my stash. This time, I had to figure out how I would make the drawstring portion of the design. It didn't take long to come up with a simple lacy design. I ended this project with the braided strings and thread them through. I quickly took pictures of these accessories together and with my shoulder bag too. Then, I presented the can cozy to my friend. Needless to say, she was pleased! Here are all of my chevron projects all together... The crochet patterns for each of these projects will be coming to you for free on the blog over the following weeks to come.
Plus, a bundle with all three of the chevron accessories that are in the round will be made available in my store with additional ideas and suggestions for making bigger projects in yarn such as baskets, totes and drawstring bags! Here's when you can expect each one:
