A month ago, I shared with you the Crochet Criss Cross Diamond Roper Layette I was commissioned by my Aunt to make for her first grandson. My cousins were thrilled to receive this gift, and have said that they will always treasure it...
He is almost one month old and it finally fits! Here he is looking mighty cute and really snug in it...

I worked on this project throughout the entire month of October, and I was able to send it to her last Monday. It arrived safely on Friday, and I am happy to report that it was well received by my auntie and my cousins, the parents-to-be.
This is the first shawl I have crocheted. I started this shawl in January/February of 2012, then I put it aside for several months, and resumed/finished it in November. It took me several weeks to make. I used the broomstick lace stitch for the main part of the shawl and then added a lacy boarder.
After crocheting so many things for others, I decided it was about time I crocheted something for me. So, I went to work, and this is were my inspiration led me. I had a general idea in my head on how I wanted the overall look to be, but I didn't know how it was going to look until I was done. With this project, I had gotten used up one skein of yarn, only to find out that I had made it too big. So, I had to rip it all apart, and start from scratch. It is never fun to do that. However, luckily, I got the size right the second time and the rest of the set went off without a hiccup. This set includes a top, a bra to wear underneath, a purse, and two hair accessories (snood and scrunchy) to interchange. Personally, I think the snood is more fun and elegant looking! I used one of the different shell stitches for the top, the diamond stitch for the purse, and single crochet for the bra. This project took me about a week, if you don't include the initial mistake. I made this in September of 2011. This is a Baby set I originally intended to give to a friend who was having a baby soon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to give it to her in time, and her baby would outgrow it before she could receive it. So, it was sold to someone who saw it and liked it. I made this in September of 2011. This is also my own design. I mostly used the diamond stitch. This is a 3-4 piece set. Vest, booties, and bonnet. It is approximately size 3 months. This is a beanie I crocheted for a baby! I have made several of these, but this is the most recent one from May. I used two colours at the same time to give it that look. Aqua Blue & White were the colours I used for this hat. I got this idea from a pattern and have of course modified it to suit my needs. Here is the link where I found it online:
http://www.birthinghandsdc.com/hats/09-Babay-swirl-crochet-hat.pdf This one of my first commissions. This was made in October of 2011. It is about 12-18 months sized. It is my own original design, including the stitching of the dress and the hat. I think I wrote the pattern of how I made it somewhere, though I am not sure where I have it. I spent some time with my customer to find out what exactly it was that she was looking for and what colours she would like. She, also, showed me some general pictures of what she had in mind. So, I took all of that into consideration as I purchased the colours needed. Then, I set off to work on the outfit with the hopes that I could crochet something that would come out the way she wanted it to be. I am happy to report that she was more than 100% satisfied with the end result. She told me, "That it is even better than what she had in her mind." This, of course, made me extremely happy that I was able to make her happy! |
