On Sunday, my SIL came to me and asked if I could replace the lacy back of her sweater with crochet. She is one of the sweetest persons I know, so I of course said yes! First, I showed her some pretty lace options from this really great website called My Picot, so that she could see if any struck her fancy. There were a few she liked as we were browsing, but the very last one (links directly to the PDF pattern diagram you can download) is the one she liked the most. I got started on it right away because I needed a relaxing project that I didn't need to write the pattern down for later.
As you can see in the BEFORE close up in the picture above, it is larger at the top in comparison to the bottom. So, as I am sure you can all imagine, the most tricky part, that has resulted in multiple froggings, was figuring out how to increase it subtly. I am happy to say that after about 4 or 5 froggings, I finally figured out a way. Of course, it is not a subtle as I was hoping, but I figure that I can go around the edge of the piece once I get it to the right size. In the WIP picture above, you can see a close up of the design, and in the picture above it, you'll see the WIP picture that shows it at about one third done. For this project, I am using a 1.05mm hook, and size 10 crochet cotton thread. I'll be working on it whenever I need a pause from the veils. So hopefully it won't take too much longer to complete.
