8 in 1 Crochet Barbie Clothes Pattern

After some seeing some people were interested in free crochet barbie clothes, I set out to make a few available.  This is the third one.

This pattern is worked from the top down, and it is this method that allows for many options. Once you get to row 7, you can stop after any row. I have suggested 4 stopping points for different top lengths and 4 stopping points for dress lengths. 

These tops and dress use 1-2 snap fasteners in the back.  Larger views of the tops and dresses are pictured below as the pattern progresses.

For this pattern, you will need to know how to single, half double, double and treble crochet, and how to chain.  You should also know how to increase and decrease stitches.

• Crochet Cotton Thread Size 10 (I used Circulo Clea, but you can use any brand you prefer)
• 1.7mm Hook (1.65mm hook works well too!)
• 1-2 - 1/4" snaps, or your choice of fastener
• a stitch marker

You'll Need:

ch - chain
CL of 2 - cluster of 2 (see video tutorial here) 
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
f/o - fasten off
rem - remaining
RS - right side
sc - single crochet
sc2tog - single crochet 2 stitches together (see video tutorial here)
sk - skip
tr - treble crochet
st(s) - stitch(es)

Instructions:

ch 54, pull tight, turn

     row 1: in back loops only - sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 11 ch, hdc, dc, tr 3, dc, hdc, sc 18, hdc, dc, tr 3, dc , hdc, sc 9, ch 1, pull tight, turn (53 sts)

     row 2: sc 9, ch 4, sk 7 sts, sc 18, ch 4, sk 7 sts, sc 12, ch 1, pull tight, turn (47 sts) *each ch counts as a st

     row 3: sc 4, (CL of 2) x 2, tr 12, (CL of 2) x 2, sc 2, (Cl of 2) x 2, tr 12, (CL of 2) x 2, sc, ch 1, pull tight, turn (39 sts)

     row 4-5: sc 39, ch 1, pull tight, turn

     row 6: sc 6, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, sc 12, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, sc 9, ch 1, pull tight, turn (35 sts)

     row 7: sc 6, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog, sc 3, ch 1, pull tight, turn (31 sts)

     row 8: sc 31, ch 1, pull tight, turn (31 sts) 

     row 9: sc 6, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog, sc 6, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog, sc 3, ch 1, pull tight, turn  (27 sts) 

     row 10-12: sc 27, ch 1, pull tight, turn

Does your doll have a wider waist?  If so, omit the last decrease row and change rows 9-13 to: 
sc 31, ch 1, pull tight, turn,. 
Proceed to row 14...

     row 13: sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 4, sc 2 in next st, sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 4, sc 2 in next st, sc 3, ch 1, pull tight, turn (31 sts) 

     row 14-16: sc 31, ch 1, pull tight, turn 

     row 17: sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 6, sc 2 in next st, sc 3, ch 1, pull tight, turn (35 sts) 

     row 18-20: sc 35, ch 1, pull tight, turn

*Can stop after row 16 for the third top*

Now we will be switching from rows to rnds...

     rnd 21: with RS out, overlap the first & last 3 sts so that the top's right side is on top of it's left side - skipping the first 3 sts, sc 2 into 4th st, (sc 2 in next st) x 28, sc 2 in each rem 3 overlapped sts together (last 3 sts overlap with first 3 sts skipped), sl st in first st of rnd (64 sts)

*Can stop after rnd 21 for fourth top*

From here, you will want to mark the 1st stitch of rnds to keep track where the beginning of the rnd is...

     rnd 22: ch 3, [tr 4, dc 4] x 7, tr 4, dc 3, sl st join to 3rd ch, ch 1, pull tight (64 sts)

     rnd 23: [sc, ch 3, sc, ch 5, sk 2 st] x 16 (16 groups of ch-3-sps & ch-5-sps) 

     rnd 24: [sc in first st of ch 3, ch 3, sk next st, sc in last st of ch 3, ch 5, sk ch 5 section] x 16 

     rnd 25+: repeat rnd 24 until you reach desired length, f/o

Weave in ends and sew on snaps or your choice of fasteners.

Suggested Dress Lengths:

• Knee Length Dress: Stop after rnd 34 (repeat rnd 24-10 more times)
  
• Mid-Length Dress: Stop after rnd 42 (repeat rnd 24-18 more times)
  
• Ankle Length Dress: Stop after rnd 48 (repeat rnd 24-24 more times)
  
• Full Length Dress: Stop after rnd 54 (repeat rnd 24-30 more times)
