When, I was working on amigurumi projects last year, I came across a really neat tutorial on "All About Ami" for doing an "Invisible Decrease" (links to original tutorial) whenever a pattern calls for 2tog (a.k.a. sc2tog). I loved it so much that I use it in all my amigurumi projects now!
For my newest fashion doll pattern, "Happily Ever After" (releasing tomorrow), I do several decreases just like the "Invisible Decrease" above. However, for this pattern, not only do I use this technique for single crochet (sc), but I also use it for double crochet (dc) and treble crochet (tr). So, the in the video below, I will show you how to do this for all three of these, and half double crochet (hdc) as well.
Use this stitch whenever you would like to to turn 2 stitch spaces into 1.
