Picot Drops Mug Cozy Instructions:
Make 1.
This mug cozy is worked in rows from side to side. *ODD rows = RS (though it is technically reversible). With MC, ch 17... Row 1: work this row in the bottom lp (back hump) of the chs → sc into the 2nd ch from hook & into the next ch, ch 12, sk 12 chs, sc 2 over the last 2 chs, ch 1, turn (16 sts). *This creates an oval handle. Row 2: (sc 1, ch 2, sk 2 sts) rep across row – ending with sc 1, ch 1, turn (5 ch-sps). Row 3: (sc 1, picot, sc 1, ch 2) into each ch-sp across – switch colours on the last sc of this row and work the last ch 2 in the new colour or cont with the same colour, turn (5 picot groups + 4 ch-sps). *The last ch 2 is a turning ch for height. Carry AC up the chs then drop it at the top. Only change colours in this row. *Click to enlarge pictures...
Row 4: work this row into the same ch-2-sps as the picot groups → drop dc 1 into ch-2-sp BEFORE picot group, (ch 1, drop dc 1 into same ch-2-sp AFTER picot group to the FRONT of the connecting-ch-2-sp, drop dc 1 into next ch-2-sp BEFORE picot group to the BACK of the connecting-ch-2-sp) rep across – ending with the drop dc after picot group, ch 1, turn (5 ch-sps or 5 blocks).
Row 5: rep row 3. Row 6: work this row into the same ch-1-sp as the picot groups → drop dc 1 into ch-1-sp BEFORE picot group, (ch 1, drop dc 1 into same ch-1-sp AFTER picot group to the FRONT of the connecting-ch-2-sp, drop dc 1 into next ch-1-sp BEFORE picot group to the BACK of the connecting-ch-2-sp) rep across – ending with the drop dc after picot group, ch 1, turn (5 ch-sps or 5 blocks). Row 7-30: rep rows 5 & 6 alternately for a total of 14 block rows or sets including the 2 already worked, or until the right length is achieved for the perfect fit. *Tip: Make it slightly shorter than the mug’s circumference. Row 31: sc 2, ch 12, sk 11 sts, sc 2, ch 1, f/o (16 sts). *This final row creates the second oval handle. Weave in all ends *The following tutorial video includes a Table of Contents on YouTube in the video description box.
